Experience

Next Level.

When you start approaching the highest levels of performance, you notice the components that only the best of the best use... and why you need it too.

Powerhouse Racing and Dailey Engineering have been collaborators on product development for the 2JZ platform for years. And the result is to the benefit of those utilizing 2JZ's in the highest levels of racing. The PHR/Dailey Vacuum Pump Kit was born from the racing world for those in need of solutions for crankcase pressure reduction.

Crankcase pressure refers to the pressure that builds up inside the engine's crankcase, which is the housing for the crankshaft, pistons, and other components of the lower part of the engine. This pressure is primarily caused by the combustion gases that leak past the piston rings (known as blow-by gases) and enter the crankcase.

Pressure Buildup

Why is crank case pressure a Problem?

Reduced Engine Performance:

  • Power Loss: Excessive crankcase pressure can cause resistance against the downward movement of the pistons, reducing overall engine power and efficiency.
  • Increased Blow-by: High crankcase pressure can exacerbate blow-by, leading to further loss of compression and power. More blow by equates to even more crank case pressure and the problem compounds.

Oil Contamination

  • Decreased Oil Quality: Blow-by gases contain contaminants that mix with the engine oil, reducing its lubricating properties and leading to increased wear and tear on engine components.

  • Shorter Oil Life: Contaminated oil degrades faster, requiring more frequent oil changes.

Oil Leaks

  • Seal Damage: Excessive pressure can push oil past gaskets and seals, causing leaks that can lead to oil starvation and potential engine damage. It can also completely push seals out causing a mess, a dangerous track situation as well as damage to other components like belts.

  • Increased Maintenance: Frequent oil leaks mean more maintenance and potential damage to surrounding components.

Engine Longevity

  • Component Wear: High pressure can increase the wear on the piston rings and cylinder walls, leading to decreased engine life and performance.

  • Heat Buildup: Excessive pressure can trap heat in the crankcase, causing overheating and additional stress on engine parts.

Benefits of Vacuum Pumps

Crank Case Pressure Reduction

Increased Horsepower

A vacuum pump reduces crankcase pressure, allowing the engine to produce more horsepower by reducing parasitic losses.

Improved Piston Ring Seal

By creating a vacuum in the crankcase, the piston rings seal better, which increases compression and power output.

Reduced Oil Contamination

The vacuum pump helps in reducing oil contamination by minimizing blow-by gases, ensuring cleaner oil and longer engine life.

Enhanced Engine Life

Lower crankcase pressure reduces the risk of oil leaks and prevents moisture buildup, contributing to a longer-lasting engine.

Better Oil Control

Improved oil control leads to more consistent oiling and cooling of engine components, which is critical during high-stress drag racing events.

The Powerhouse Racing/Dailey Engeering Vacuum Pump Kit

Vacuum Pump

You can get the Dailey Engineering Vacuum pump in two different finishes: Clear Anodized, as they come from Dailey Engineering, or Black Cerakote Finish.

This pump is a two-stage roots-style vacuum section pump. It also includes two -10AN Inlet ports that are reversible, and one -16AN Outlet Port to connect to your breather tank or return to your drysump tank for those who are combining this with a complete drysump setup.

Bracket

This Bracket is the same base as our Mechanical Fuel Pump Bracket, but suited for mounting the vacuum pump.

It is CNC Machined from 6061 Aluminu, and anodized black. It mounts to the front of the cylinder head and looks amazing!

Available for both Non-VVT-i and VVT-i Engines.

Locking Pump Drive

This is a clever little piece. It is a precision CNC Machined drive made from 17-4 Stainelss Steel, making it extremely strong. Further, it locks to the camshaft using an alloy steel dowel, and we even provide a CNC machined drill guide for making the dowel hole.

Further it has a retention lock, that locks the drive to the base plate so it simply cannot be loosened by vibration or the counter rotational force of the pump.

Lines

We have lines to easily adapt the pump to any of the PHR Billet Valve Covers. These are a super lightweight line, with black braiding and black hose ends.
