Adam Grantham: A Passion for Cars and a Dream Realized

Meet Adam Grantham

A Passion for Cars and a Dream Realized

For Adam Grantham, the love for cars began early. Growing up in Shreveport, Louisiana, an area known for its drag racing culture, combined with the influence of the Fast and Furious franchise it shaped his passion for modifying vehicles. It wasn’t until 2006, when he purchased his first car – a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS – that his passion truly ignited. Today, Adam's journey has come full circle with the ownership of his dream car, a 1993 Toyota Supra, a vehicle that he had coveted since the age of 11.

A Supra to Call His Own

After years of searching, Adam found his Supra during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, thanks to a tip from friend Eddy Oliveros. The car, imported from Japan, arrived as a pristine right-hand drive model. For Adam, the decision to buy a Supra was about more than just owning a legendary vehicle. It was about fulfilling a dream and restoring the car to an OEM finish that stayed true to its roots while adding a personal touch.

Over the past three years, this 1993 Supra has undergone a complete transformation. From the outside, it might appear stock, but under the hood and throughout the build, it’s anything but. The car was restored from the ground up by Buddy Trudell at Bayou Wheel and Paint in Shreveport, with Adam’s vision of a subtle yet “exotic” white color that gleams with a mica flake in certain lights.

Modifications and Performance

Adam’s Supra is a blend of performance and style. Some of the key modifications include:

  • Fuel System: Radium Fuel Hanger with three Hellcat 525s, ID2600 injectors, and a custom ECU harness.
  • Wheels & Tires: Weld Vitese wheels (17x9 front, 15x10 rear with beadlocks) wrapped in Hankook Ventus V2s up front and MT 275 Pro in the rear.

With these modifications, the car is a beast, producing an impressive 1340 WHP and 881 WTQ at 50 psi – without nitrous!

The Most Unique Features

Adam’s Supra features several standout custom parts and modifications. The dash, fitted with a FuelTech FT550, attracts attention at every event, as do his custom black Weld Vitese wheels. The clean, functional setup inside the car, combined with his attention to detail, makes this build one of a kind. Though it's hard to pick just one standout mod, Adam often gets asked about the FuelTech dash and his parachute-equipped Supra – a build designed to handle the raw power it produces.

Custom Built by Adam

While Adam worked with a few trusted partners on his build, including Bayou Wheel and Paint, much of the work was completed in his own garage. He tackled everything from engine and transmission replacements to wiring, tuning, and installing the turbo kit. His expertise as a tuner through his company, Secret Service Tuning, shines through in every aspect of the car. Using a FuelTech FT550 engine management system, he has left no stone unturned, incorporating traction control, rolling anti-lag, boost-by-gear, and several other tuning strategies to ensure the Supra runs perfectly.

Building Memories

Adam’s favorite part of owning his Supra isn't just the build itself – it’s the memories he’s made along the way. One particularly special memory was giving a young special needs child, who was obsessed with Supras, his first ride in one. Moments like these remind Adam why he built the car in the first place: to share his passion with others.

Future Plans for the Supra

As any car enthusiast will tell you, a build is never really finished. Adam has plans to upgrade the car further, with a PHR 6” intercooler and a FuelTech FT700 on the horizon. While he doesn’t attend many events due to his busy work schedule, his Supra stands ready for any weekend outing or event that comes his way.

Advice for Car Enthusiasts

For those just getting started on their own builds, Adam’s advice is simple: “Envision the build, then build it to suit.” His journey with the Supra reflects his belief in staying true to his vision and building a car that stands out, while staying practical and enjoyable to drive.
