This Hall Effect Sensor Kit is designed for customers running specific standalone ECUs that require a Hall effect signal input for cam and crank position — such as certain Pro EFI systems that may struggle with factory VR (variable reluctance) sensors when using aftermarket camshafts.

⚙️ Purpose

This kit provides an alternative to the factory VR sensors for ECUs that cannot reliably process the factory signal due to noise, low signal voltage, or other interference issues. It allows tuners to achieve a cleaner and more stable signal when their ECU specifically calls for Hall effect sensors.

⚠️ Important Notice

Before purchasing, please be aware:

  • Most users do not need this kit.
The factory VR sensors work extremely well with both 12-tooth and 36-2 tooth trigger setups on properly configured ECUs.
  • This kit is for experienced tuners only.
Installation and setup require ECU reconfiguration for Hall effect input, including proper signal pull-up, polarity, and timing offset.
Powerhouse Racing does not provide ECU setup, tuning, or wiring support.
  • If you are unsure whether your ECU requires a Hall sensor, we strongly recommend consulting your tuner or ECU manufacturer before purchasing.

Recommended For

  • Pro EFI users experiencing sync issues with factory VR sensors.
  • Tuners familiar with configuring Hall effect signal inputs.
  • Custom race setups where the ECU manufacturer has explicitly specified Hall sensors.

Not Recommended For

  • Factory ECUs or aftermarket ECUs that already support VR sensors reliably.
  • Customers not comfortable with ECU wiring or signal configuration.

UPDATE: Confirmed to work on 36-2 crankshaft trigger wheel and 3 tooth camshaft triggers for VVT-i motors:

Using Haltech Engine Management. We do not have any settings for any other engine management systems, so please do not ask. As we get more confirmation of them working on other systems we will post them here. With confirmation of good triggering Haltech, it confirms that this sensor is capable of reading the 36-2 trigger wheel quite successfully. It should be able to work successfully on most other engine management systems without any problems so long as they can accept a hall effect sensor. Testing has been successful to 8000 rpm. We have not done testing above that.

View these settings in the image below. These equivalent settings should allow these to be used in most other engine management systems.
